Why join SAGT?

As Geography teachers we are enormously proud of SAGT and work hard to ensure we remain one of the most active subject associations in Scotland. There are various advantages to membership which extend well beyond the obvious networking opportunities.

The Association is regularly consulted by SQA and other bodies about various Geography matters and SAGT strives to ensure that the views of the membership are well represented in any discussions relating to policy change.

How are payments made?

Annual subscriptions are due in June of each year and we would strongly encourage all members to pay by direct debit as it is the simplest way to keep membership up-to-date. Any members who have previously paid by cheque are requested to download a direct debit mandate from the website and return to Joanna by mid June for a first collection date of 30th June, of course if you would rather pay by cheque you can do.

Since 2020, changing to meeting online has helped us reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and allowed us to make financial savings as an organisation. We have passed this on to members and made reductions to membership fees, including extending free membership to probationers.

Membership fees for 2023/24:

Full Member £30

Retired Member £15

Probationer Member Free membership

Student Member          Free membership

Please do get in touch at any time throughout the year to keep us informed of any changes to personal details (both personal and school information) so that you receive all mailings and updates from the SAGT.

Applications to join can be made using the online form below. If you wish to apply by post, printable copies can be found here.
